Are Manchester City really preparing to part ways with Kevin De Bruyne? The club’s recent behavior seems to suggest that they are.
Der Bruyne is an icon for City. He scored 96 goals and provided 153 assists in 358 appearances over nine seasons after joining from Wolfsburg in 2015. He was a major part of City’s golden era.
Der Bruyne collected 14 trophies with City, including five English Premier League (EPL) titles, one FA Cup, and one UEFA Champions League (UCL). Last season, he played a key role in City’s first ever ‘treble’.
The possibility of a parting of the ways between De Bruyne and City has been a persistent one.
For starters, City have been reluctant to re-sign De Bruyne. De Bruyne’s contract runs until June 2025. That’s when contract talks should begin. However, there is a possibility that they won’t re-sign him. This is due to his physical condition.
The 32-year-old has been suffering from frequent injuries lately. He suffered a hamstring injury at the end of last season and has yet to return this season after suffering a hamstring injury in the opening EPL game against Burnley. This is why City have been so reluctant to re-sign him.
This is where Saudi Arabia, with its ‘oil money’, comes in. Cristiano Ronaldo’s club, Al Nasr, is actively pursuing the player. Al Nasr has offered the world’s highest salary for the player, surpassing Ronaldo’s.
City responded with a counteroffer. “City have expressed their willingness to enter talks with Al Nasr for The Bruyne,” local media reported.
Next up, they’re looking for a replacement for De Bruyne, and they have a potential candidate. West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta. 무지개토토
“City are looking for a successor to De Bruyne and are set to launch a bid for Paqueta,” says The Sun. Der Bruyne has been linked with Saudi Arabia,” the Sun reported.
“The transfer switch is on. City were also interested in Paqueta in the summer transfer window, but withdrew their interest after he was embroiled in an illegal betting scandal. However, Paqueta has continued to play this season, denying the allegations, and has impressed Pep Guardiola.”
Finally, the publication emphasized that “if Paqueta is cleared of all charges, City will make a second attempt to sign him in January.”
