Baekho Kang tries to wash away convention nightmares…”I’m going to put on a good show”

KT WIZ center fielder Kang Baek-ho, who has faced trials and tribulations in every international tournament he has competed in, is determined to do well.

“I will show a good performance from the first game,” he said after arriving at Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport in Hangzhou, China, as a member of the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games baseball team.

“I’m in good shape,” he said, adding, “I played one practice game and the pitching looked good, so I’m looking forward to it.”

“I’m no longer the youngest member of the national team,” he said, adding, “There are a lot of young players with ambition. We will have fun and play our best while having fun.”

This is Kang Baek-ho’s fourth international tournament, but he doesn’t have fond memories.

In his first international tournament after his professional debut, the 2019 Premier12, he was benched without much playing time.

He also kept his head down at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. While his individual performance (0.308 batting average) wasn’t bad, he was criticized for his attitude during the bronze medal game against the Dominican Republic.

Against Australia in the first round of the 2023 World Baseball Classic in March, in the bottom of the seventh inning, trailing 4-5, he hit a double to left-center field and then made a ridiculous mistake at second base, taking his foot off the base and being tagged out.메이저사이트

South Korea failed to advance to the second round of the World Baseball Classic after losing to Australia, and Kang went through a long slump upon returning to his home team.

He was criticized for his sloppy play in the KBO and was even sidelined from the first team for a while due to extreme stress.

He returned to the first team on March 8, about two weeks before the Asian Games kicked off, and made the team to Hangzhou without any problems.
