Harry Kane has set a final date to finalize a move to Bayern Munich, it has been revealed.
Kane has been the subject of intense interest from soccer fans as he looks set to leave Tottenham ahead of the 2023/24 season. Kane is Tottenham’s all-time leading scorer, but the club’s eighth-place finish in the 2022/23 season and failure to qualify for a UEFA competition has led to speculation that he could be looking to move on in search of trophies.
One club that approached Kane with a desire to win was Munich. The Bavarians have been without a frontline striker since the departure of Robert Lewandowski, and have since faltered in both the league and Champions League in the 2022/23 season.
In the summer transfer window, the club brought in Konrad Reimer, Raphael Guerreiro, and Kim Min-Jae to try and make up for last season’s disappointment, with Kane as their top target to bolster the forward line.
However, convincing Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy, who is rumored to be a difficult man, was not an easy task. Reputedly wanting more than £100 million, Levy rejected Munich’s first offer of €70 million and a second offer of €80 million with an option for €114.5 million.
Negotiations continued, but it was not easy to convince Tottenham. The Munich hierarchy even traveled to London for talks, only to return to their club with a difference in transfer fee.
According to global sports outlet The Athletic, “Munich and Tottenham had a £25 million ($41 billion) difference in their valuation of Kane during talks on Monday. Representatives from both clubs have discussed a move for Kane and discussions are set to continue,” explaining that the talks failed to agree on a transfer fee.
Despite Munich’s decision to pay £100 million, Tottenham still had no answer. “Kane is expecting his future to be decided this weekend, with Munich offering Tottenham a £86m transfer fee,” said British outlet The Sun, adding, “Munich are hoping the deal will be resolved by the end of the week. Including a further option of £17 million, Munich’s offer exceeds £100 million.”
Levy was uncomfortable with the fact that Munich had delivered a final offer in excess of £100 million and were pressuring him to make a decision. According to Sport, “Munich visibly pressed for a deal for Kane. Levy didn’t like it and had to be angry once again,” he said.
“Tottenham are said to feel they are being put under unnecessary pressure, and Levy was not happy. It remains to be seen if Tottenham will accept Munich’s new offer. However, Munich are waiting for an answer by the end of the week,” explaining that the club’s attitude of waiting for an answer by the end of the week has put pressure on Tottenham.
Sport Bild added: “Levy has created a crazy twist in the Kane negotiations. Munich handed over a record offer for Kane in their last offer and gave Tottenham a deadline. Levy deliberately passed it up, and he went on a two-week vacation with his family in Miami,” adding that Levy ignored Munich’s final offer and went on vacation.
With Tottenham delaying a final decision, reports have emerged that Kane and Munich have also set a deadline for a move.
“Munich and Kane have agreed a transfer deadline,” German outlet FCB Insider reported on July 7.
FCB Insider continued, “Munich have made a new offer for Kane. This is the final offer. There will be no further financial increase. Tottenham’s reaction has been a long time coming. According to reports, Spurs have not rejected the offer.”
“But we can’t wait forever for Tottenham. Munich and Kane have set a deadline for the transfer. Simply put, they have said that if there is no final decision by August 11, the deal will most likely be done this summer,” he said, explaining that Kane and Munich are unlikely to go past August 11 on this transfer.
However, Tottenham and Munich have not given up on negotiations altogether. “According to reports, the two clubs continue to maintain good contact. The Munich hierarchy will discuss further steps on Monday of this week. The deadline will be on Friday, and there is not much Munich can do at the moment,” adding that for now, the club can do nothing more than hold further talks.
In the meantime, Kane has kept fans on their toes by scoring four goals in the first home game of pre-season, even as the speculation continues.
On June 6, Kane scored a first-half opener and three second-half goals in Tottenham’s thumping win over Shakhtar. “Tottenham fans pleaded with Kane, who is close to a move to Munich, as he scored four goals, chanting: ‘We all want you to stay at Tottenham,'” the Daily Mail reported after the game.메이저사이트
With Munich and Kane’s final deadline day appearance, there is less than a week left for Kane to decide whether he wants to leave this summer, and much attention will be paid to what Spurs decide to do in the remaining days.
