Bayern Munich are continuing their pursuit of Takehiro Tomiyasu.
An interesting transfer rumor has recently emerged. Arsenal’s Tomiyasu is the subject of interest from Munich. According to Florian Plettenberg of German outlet Sky Sports, “Tomiyasu was a target for Munich last summer. The Bavarians appreciated his ability to play both center back and right back. It is unlikely that Tomiyasu will move to Munich in January. Nevertheless, the Bavarians are continuing to monitor him and are considering a possible move next summer.”
Tomiyasu is a quality defender from Japan. At 188 centimeters, he has solid physicality and is quick and aggressive despite his height. His main position is right-back, but he can also play center-back and has good build-up play.
His career progression has been rapid. In the 2017-18 season, he moved to Sint-Truiden of the Belgian League, where he quickly established himself as a regular starter and used his performances to earn a move to the big leagues in Europe. His success as a ‘defender’ in the Italian Serie A, where he scored three goals and provided three assists in 64 games over two seasons, attracted the attention of Arsenal. Mikel Arteta recognized the versatility of Tomiyas and pushed for his signature.
That’s how Tomiyas arrived in London. Before his injury, he was a regular starter. However, injuries cost him his place and in 2022-23, he spent more time on the bench, losing out to Ben White, who switched to right-back. Things have been better this season, but he’s still not a regular starter.
Tomiyas has one year and seven months left on his Arsenal contract. It’s time to start hearing about a new deal, but there’s been no real progress yet. If a new deal doesn’t materialize, Arsenal will have to wait until next summer to sell him, even if it’s only to get a minimal transfer fee. 무지개토토 도메인
That’s why Munich are monitoring his situation. With their defensive depth thin, the Bavarians have taken note of Tomiyas’ versatility. Plettenberg wrote on his social media account on Wednesday (July 22), “As I mentioned yesterday, Munich are pushing hard to sign Tomiyas in the summer. Because of his versatility. Munich want to sign him in the winter transfer window, but Arsenal are not willing to let him go. At this stage, a move for Tomiyas is unlikely. Munich knows this. However, they will continue to monitor the player’s situation.”
