NC Dinos Peddy started the game with a perfect first inning. There appeared to be no injury aftereffects.
Before Game 1 of the playoffs between NC and KT at KT Wiz Park in Suwon on Tuesday, the biggest concern was the health of NC’s starting pitcher, Pedi.
In the regular season, Pedi won the Triple Crown (wins, strikeouts, and ERA) with 20 wins, 209 strikeouts, and a 2.00 ERA. He also became the first player in 37 years to achieve the 20-win, 200-strikeout mark since Seon Dong-yeol in 1986. It was the fifth-best record in KBO history.
However, in his last appearance of the regular season, on April 16 against the Gwangju KIA, Pedi was hit squarely in the forearm by a pitch. Luckily, he was diagnosed with a bruise and not a fracture, but it took him a long time to recover.
Pedi missed the wild-card game against Doosan and all three semifinal games against SSG. He was scheduled to start Game 3 of the semifinals, but was delayed when he developed a slight right elbow impingement syndrome while pitching out of the bullpen.
He was then set to start Game 4 of the semifinals, but the semifinal series ended in Game 3, giving him plenty of time to get healthy for Game 1 of the playoffs.
In the first inning, Peddie grounded out to shortstop Kim Sang-soo. He broke up the batting order with a sweeper. Hwang Jae-gyun then grounded out to shortstop on a 152-kilometer pitch.
Two batters later, Alford struck out swinging on a sweeper on a two-ball, two-strike count. Three outs. The 20-win pitcher is healthy and ready to go.토토사이트
Peddy touched 95 mph on his fastball in the first inning, and his primary weapon, the sweeper, was sharp. He struck out the side in the first with 12 pitches. In the second, he struck out Park Byung-ho with a 153km fastball and Jang Sung-woo with a 135km sweeper. Choi Sung-ho’s well-hit ball was caught by Park Min-woo at second base and thrown to first for the out.
NC opened the scoring in the first inning with a single by Son and a double to left-center by Park Min-woo, followed by a sacrifice fly by Martin one out later. In the second, leadoff hitter Oh Young-soo hit a solo home run over the left-center field fence for a 2-0 lead.
In the top of the third, an error, a double by Park Gun-woo and an RBI single by Kwon Hee-dong made it 4-0. In the bottom of the inning, NC set the tone with a perfect pitch by Pedi and a long hit by Taesun.
