As the landing announcement was made, the airplane was filled with applause. The plane carrying the main squad from the Hangzhou 2022 Para Asian Games arrived at Incheon International Airport at around 6 p.m. on the 29th to significant applause. After welcoming and encouraging the athletes before takeoff, the airline once again highlighted their performance after landing, drawing applause from the passengers.
The Hangzhou 2022 ParaAsian Games (APG), which took place in Hangzhou, China, for a week from February 22-28, has come to a close. The Korean team, which sent 208 athletes to compete in 21 events, won 30 gold, 33 silver and 40 bronze medals at the Games, placing fourth in the overall standings behind China, Iran and Japan.
After the closing ceremony on the 28th, the athletes boarded their flight home on the 29th with a farewell ceremony at the Hangzhou Athletes’ Village. “Each and every one of you is a true champion who has shown their skills to the fullest, regardless of victory or defeat,” said Jeong Jin-wan, President of the Korean Para Sports Federation. “Now, let’s work hard for the Paris Paralympic Games and show the people a more developed Para sports scene.”
Lee Jung-mi, Sports Cooperation Officer at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said, “Many people were moved by the way you did your best in the games,” and promised, “The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will continue to do its best to support you to fulfill your dreams.”
After arriving at Incheon Airport, a welcome ceremony was held for the athletes. After leaving the departure gate, the athletes were led to the welcoming ceremony by team captain Kim Young-gun (table tennis) and Kim Jin-hyuk (table tennis). Seo Soo-yeon, who won three table tennis titles (women’s singles and mixed doubles), and Park Jin-cheol, who won two titles (men’s doubles and mixed doubles), received bouquets of flowers on behalf of the athletes.
The athletes and their coach, Kim Jin-hyuk, said, “I’m crying as I try to finish,” and added, “We received a lot of love from the public during the tournament. I would like to ask for your continued interest and support for Para athletics.”굿모닝토토 도메인
Chairman Jeong Jin-wan also said, “You guys worked really hard. The coaches and their families who gave their full support to the athletes, the families of the support team who struggled to eat behind the scenes, and the staff of the Korean Paralympic Committee all did a great job.” He concluded his welcome remarks by saying to the athletes, “Please go home and eat a warm meal and have a good performance at the National Para Games next week.”
After his words and a commemorative photo, the athletes concluded their official schedule for the Hangzhou 2022 Para Asian Games. After a short break, the athletes will compete for goodwill at the 43rd National Para Sports Games in Mokpo, Jeollanam-do, from March 3 to 8.
